Synod of the Southwest

The multicultural Synod of the Southwest is comprised of four presbyteries spanning the states of Arizona and New Mexico with over 21,000 members in 140 churches and 14 chapels. Cook Native American Ministries Foundation (Tempe, AZ), Menaul School (Albuquerque, NM), and Ghost Ranch Conference Center (Abiquiu, NM) are all within the bounds of the Synod. One of the primary missions of the Synod of the Southwest is to serve as a connectional resource to its presbyteries particularly in leadership development.
Mission
The Synod of the Southwest participates with others in the ministry of Jesus Christ to encourage and support mission in the Southwest by:

Faithfully responding to the multicultural and historically-informed context in which God has placed us;

Engaging one another in dialogue about ministry and faith across presbytery lines,and in partnership with the larger church (including, among others, General Assembly, other synods and ecumenical partners;

Sharing and developing resources of people history, money and skills in seeking to live faithfully together.
Vision
God is weaving the Synod of the Southwest into a tapestry of cultures, peoples and dreams – an “Ojo de Dios” that envisions a future of wholeness, grace and beauty.
Ojo: The center represents the pupil of the eye of the Spirit. The four points represent earth, fire, air and water. The ojo symbolizes a wish for health, fortune and long life.
